Does weight loss surgery is permanent ?
Weight loss surgery can
be lifesaving for numerous people who have a lot of weight to lose and want
more than diet and exercise. Dependent on the operation, they frequently lose
30% to 50% of their extra
weight within six months. It's a great decision. You can’t eat as much later,
and it takes a life-long commitment to diet and exercise to have the pounds
off. As it’s major surgery, there are certain risks, too.
You and your doctor must
talk through the options and choose what’s
right for you. First, you will need to know what to believe, How Weight Loss
Surgery Works, Some weight loss surgeries avoid the stomach from extending to complete
size. Generally, it can hold around 6 cups of food. Later some operations,
it can only hold a cup or so. You feel full earlier, so you eat less and lose
weight.
Some surgeries also
bypass part of the intestines, so you can absorb fewer calories and lose
weight. Today, most bariatric surgeries
use small incisions called "laparoscopic"
surgeries, rather than large incisions. The surgeon made five to six such small
incisions in the abdomen. They insert micro tools and cameras through these
holes, and then operate while watching the video screen.
Types of bariatric surgery
Rouxen Y Gastric bypass
surgery
This is one of the most
common bariatric surgery, and it is also the most commonly used gastric bypass
surgery. In this operation, the surgeon
first divides the stomach into two parts, one large and one small. Then they
nailed the small part of the stomach to make a small bag. Next, they disconnected the gastric pouch from
the first part of the small intestine (duodenum). They then reconnected the
stomach to the second part of the small
intestine (jejunum). This is the bypass. After gastric bypass surgery, I
felt full after eating less, so I lost weight. Bypassing also allows you to absorb
fewer calories, so you lose more weight.
Laparoscope Adjustable Gastric Band
The surgeon uses a
laparoscopic tool to place an inflatable silicone band round the upper stomach.
They tightened the bands so that the stomach became a small pouch with a narrow
outlet. The result is that you feel fuller faster, so you eat less and lose
weight. The surgeon can tighten or loosen the strap as needed and even reverse
the procedure.
